CEE Conference Summary

HOLIDAY INN Hotel Prague, from 2-3 March 2011

A slight economic increase is expected on all markets, except Romania, in 2011. Nevertheless, the economic recovery will be very moderate, which will correspond to the advertisement demand growth. As it is well-known, investment into marketing communication is often one of the first cost-cutting measures which advertisers usually resort to at the time of depression. In general, we estimate that the volume of advertising expenses will not return to that of year 2008 before year 2013, which is quite an optimistic scenario. This concerns all the mediatypes with the exception of on-line advertisement whose annual growth will continue to increase at the expense of other mediatypes.

Television remains the key communication channel and in most cases still forms the base of a communication mix. Therefore, it receives such attention and we are interested in its effectiveness particularly now at the time of economic recession when advertisers face an decline in demand for their production and services and when communication opportunities, especially on the Internet, are on the rise.

Such a situation means higher and higher demands on all subjects directly or indirectly involved in preparation, realisation and evaluation of communication. Thanks to attendance of an excellent speakers of area of the advertisers, TV channels, the market research companies and media agencies the conference participants had the opportunity to confront
an interesting information and impulses of ad communiaction effectiveness in CEE in context of world-wide development of media.
